Since I have not loved the last couple of wines I reviewed, I thought it would be fitting to share some that I do.

jam

This is our go to wine when we are with people who are new to drinking wine.

Taken from the Jam Jar website:

A more fun style than your typical Shiraz, this fresh, fruity, semi-sweet wine displays aromas and flavors of ripe, juicy berries with dark chocolate undertones. The perfect balance between sweetness and acidity makes for a refreshing approachability.

We found this wine at Aldi this past winter, and it’s what turned us onto Sauvignon Blancs for the summer.

Taken from the Starborough website:

Our 2011 Starborough Sauvignon Blanc has layers of citrus and tropical fruit with hints of fresh green characters, which make the wine a true expression of the Marlborough region. Flavors of passion fruit, guava and kiwi layered over a citrus framework culminate in a crisp, approachable palate.

graf

This wine is only available through PRP Wines. Whenever we go to one of their tastings, we buy at least half a case.

It’s a tiny bit smokey, and very fruit forward. It has a bit of sweetness to it, and this red is very smooth.

firecracker red

We ended up buying a bottle of this off of a discount rack for $4.99. After we tried it, we went back and bought the remaining four bottles! It has a very, very smokey taste.

Taken from the Firecracker Wine Site:

This dynamic blend is a full flavored, smooth red that delivers a burst of ripe berry, black spice, and maples notes. It is as delicious as it is memorable.

oyster

We tried this one at a wine tasting and were pleasantly surprised. Guess we liked Sauvignon Blancs going on a few years now.

Taken from the Oyster Bay Wine Site:

Pale straw green in colour with brilliant clarity, Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is zesty and aromatic with lots of lively, penetrating fruit characters. A concentration of tropical and gooseberry flavours with an abundant bouquet, it is a wine that is always crisp, elegant and refreshing.
