5star

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert continues her smoking-hot series about the O’Malleys-wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets.

Carrigan O’Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she’s ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.

Hallorans vs. O’Malleys that’s how it’s always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family’s empire instead of how silky Carrigan’s skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he’ll be if he can’t get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

My Review:

I thought The Marriage Contract was hot, but the second book in The O’Malley series was even hotter.

You can read my review for The Marriage Contract, here.

In this book we get to know more of the O’Malley siblings, and the character development continues to be done very well. Carrigan shines as a determined and self-reliant heroine, and James is an alpha with a heart of gold, especially for Carrigan.

I read a lot of romance, and even if the story is very well written, if the characters are continually wishy-washy, it can get on my nerves. These two did have their moments of doubt, but it was done well, and made sense at that time in the story.

Katee Robert expertly shows the emotions that everyone is going through. The O’Malley siblings are continually manipulated by their father, and to a lesser degree their mother. You know the siblings love each other, but since they are trapped in the family, they will also do what they need to, in order to survive. And sometimes this means doing something that will potential harm each other.

And as I mentioned in the first line of this review, this story is very erotic. The sex scenes are scorching. There are times I will skip over those parts to get back to the main storyline, but I read each one of these, in all of their glorious details.

Robert sets up the story perfectly for the next book in The O’Malley series, An Indecent Proposal, which will be out July 26, 2016. I guess I know what I’ll be doing that day!
