Scott’s Review

What a wicked little story. At just 46 pages long, you’re thrust into the middle of the zombie apocalypse at page one. If you know anything about me and my reviews, I love zombies and I love apocalyptic horror! Andy, his brother, Steven, Tim & his girlfriend, Nikki are survivors of the apocalypse when they come across a little cabin owned by a woman we know as Sunsiray Feagan and her son. If we know anything about zombie apocalypse stories, it’s not the dead we have to worry about. It’s each other. It’s other humans. We’re the real monsters. That ought to be enough to get you to pick up this book even if you don’t like zombies.

I’m trying to put my finger on exactly what it is that I loved about this story. Was it the fast-paced action? Was it the hoards of the undead? Was it the varying dynamics of the characters that seemed like they could have belonged in a book much longer than this one? Was it the twists & turns? Was it the squeamishly awesome ending that was like taking a punch right to the fucking gut? …it was all of that and much more. I know. I’m biased. As I mentioned previously, I love love, love zombies and I love apocalyptic horror. This little tiny novella managed to hit all of the important marks for me. I’m scared to mention much more! It’s such a fast-paced book with a ton of content crammed into a tiny little package, I do not want to give away any spoilers!

I follow Chad Lutzke & Terry West on #instagram and it’s no secret their devoted followers know what’s up. I’m embarrassed to admit this is the first book having read by either of them and thankfully, this collaboration is beyond amazing. I’m super excited to collect more individual works by them and cannot wait to see what else they have to offer me as a lover of all things full of horror!

Reviews on Amazon and Goodreads are consistent. The lowest rating you’re going to find is a solid 4-stars and I can obviously see why. It’s so disturbing, dark and horrific that any fan of the horror genre should add this one to their collection. Lover of zombies? Get it. Thirsty for blood and gore? Buy this. Apocalyptic fan? You need this. Close to becoming a psychotic serial killer? Add it to your Amazon cart and push yourself right over the edge! Hooray! Obviously, this is a solid 5-star read for me. Not only will I revisit this one again, but as I mentioned before, I’ll be adding more from Chad and Terry to my collection over time. Solid writing. Solid storytelling. Pure awesomeness.
